Event Details

Join us for class from 12:00–1:30, followed by an open lab from 1:30–3:00. During the lab, we’ll work together to apply the concepts from class through guided exploration, individual practice, and collaborative exchange, giving you time to develop, test, and refine what you’ve learned in a supported freestyle environment.

About the teaching artists!

Logan “L2K” Howell, originally from Appleton, WI, began his dance journey through competitive training in breaking, hip hop, ballroom, tricking, and gymnastics. He joined Chicago Dance Crash in 2018, where he has since created, trained, and performed with some of the nation’s most respected dance practitioners, including James Gregg, Annie Franklin, Elijah Motley, and RhythmKidz. Logan is a member of Chicago’s Hip Hop Crew RhythmKidz and a dedicated student of Hip Hop freestyle, bringing a deep respect for foundation, individuality, and improvisation into his work.

Logan regularly competes in street dance battles across the country. His competitive highlights include Winner of Stackin’ Stylez Chicago Qualifier (2025), Winner of ShinDig Hitterz Collective (Madison, 2024), Top 4 at Red Bull Dance Your Style Chicago (2024), Finalist at Boiler Breakers Battle (Indiana, 2024), and Finalist at the 2v2 Windy City Throwdown (Chicago, 2023).

Outside of dance, Logan owns and operates a vintage clothing resale business, L2Klothing, and provides upcycled costuming for Chicago Dance Crash during the season.

Sawyer Newsome is a Chicago-based dance artist originally from Charlotte, North Carolina. This marks his second year with Chicago Dance Crash. He spent three formative years in New York and holds a BFA in Dance Performance from Rutgers University, where he worked with Doug Elkins, Pam Tanowitz, and Shannon Gillen.

Following graduation, Newsome relocated to Utah during the pandemic to launch his professional career. There, he performed with Wasatch Contemporary Dance Company and co-founded the NewBrese Dance Project. After returning to New York, he performed with Artichoke Dance Company and continues to perform with and serve as a rehearsal director for Catapult Entertainment. He has also curated and performed multiple NewBrese works throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn.

What to expect from class!

This floorwork class blends two distinct movement perspectives into one shared experience. Logan and Sawyer bring their individual vocabularies and approaches to create a dynamic space for exploration, strength, and fluidity. The focus is helping each dancer develop a functional and personal relationship to the floor.
