Event Details

Join us for class from 12:00–1:30, followed by an open lab from 1:30–3:00. During the lab, we’ll work together to apply the concepts from class through guided exploration, individual practice, and collaborative exchange, giving you time to develop, test, and refine what you’ve learned in a supported freestyle environment.

About the Teaching Artist!

KC Bevis is in her third year as Artistic Director of Chicago Dance Crash, where she also serves as Touring and Managing Director. A longtime company performer recognized for her athletic and theatrical performance style, she was appointed to the role in 2023 by longtime Artistic Director Jessica Deahr after ten seasons with the organization. Her tenure includes six years as Rehearsal Director, along with leadership as a choreographer and Educational Outreach Coordinator. In her current position, Bevis oversees the company’s artistic direction, national touring, and organizational operations.

Bevis creates narrative-driven dance theater that integrates street dance, concert dance, and physical theater. Her work emphasizes character, story architecture, and ensemble collaboration. She specializes in long-form freestyle composition, developing structured improvisational systems that support real-time expression within intentional narrative and choreographic frameworks.

In 2025, Bevis staged, produced, and creatively directed LXIV (six.four), a full-length production that played to a sold-out audience.

Her choreographic work has been commissioned and presented by Visceral Dance Chicago (Solus), DanceWorks Chicago (ChoreoLab), Northern Illinois University, and Chicago Dance Crash’s season productions, repertory, and national tours. Her choreography has also been presented at Chicago Live at Navy Pier, Millennium Park’s Crown Fountain Series, the Riverside Theatre Dance Festival in Vero Beach, and the City of Chicago Tree Lighting Ceremony.

In addition to her creative and leadership work, she is an active educator, teaching weekly at Rhythmhood x SNIPES Studio and currently serving in residency at Northern Illinois University.

What to expect from class!

KC’s class explores the functionality of transitioning between levels. Through advanced weight shifts, pathways, and floorwork concepts, dancers will expand and integrate new approaches into their existing movement vocabulary.
