About the Teaching Artist!
KC Bevis’ journey in movement began as a competitive gymnast before transitioning into classical dance and ultimately finding a home in hip hop and street dance. She has trained in acrobatics, hip hop, locking, breaking, ballet, modern, jazz, and tap—shaping a movement style defined by power, athleticism, and versatility. Embarking on her professional career at a young age, KC joined Chicago Dance Crash in 2013, performing alongside companies such as Moonwater Dance Project and Ensemble 180.
As the lead in Chicago Dance Crash’s 2017 production The Bricklayers of Oz, she delivered what See Chicago Dancedescribed as “a dynamic dancer of considerable expressive and technical range.” Her closing Act I solo was praised as “a tour de force of technical virtuosity, gymnastics pyrotechnics, and emotional build that drives the plot to its crisis.”The production earned Dance Magazine’s Most Inventive New Work recognition, further solidifying KC’s reputation as both a formidable performer and an artist with a distinct voice.
As a choreographer, KC has created work for Visceral Dance Chicago’s Solus, DanceWorks Chicago’s ChoreoLab, and Chicago Dance Crash’s season productions, national tours, and repertory work. Her choreography has been showcased at Chicago Live at Navy Pier, Millennium Park’s Crown Fountain Series, Vero Beach’s Riverside Theatre Dance Festival, and the Chicago Tree Lighting Ceremony. Specializing in long-form freestyle structures—where improvisation and freestyle meet intentional design—she creates work that thrives in both real-time expression and deep connection. In addition to performance and choreography, KC is an active educator, currently teaching weekly Acrobatics classes at Rhythmhood x SNIPES Studio.
What to expect from class!
Crash Course explores the connection of mind and body in the practice of floorwork, acrobatics, and seamless transitions between the two. This class blends body mechanics, spatial awareness, and movement efficiency, incorporating techniques such as rolling, falling, and flow alongside acrobatic elements inspired by gymnastics, breaking, and capoeira.
Through this practice, dancers will explore how floorwork and inversions shift their relationship with gravity, deepening their understanding of movement, momentum, and control. Students will develop comfort and confidence in being upside down, refine smooth transitions between levels, and gain progression tools to continue building their skills beyond class.
