Jessica Deahr

Chicago, IL
Artistic Director

Jessica has traveled the world as a performer and is now a professional dancer, teacher and choreographer based in Chicago. Specializing in contemporary, ballet, jazz, modern, hip hop, breakdance, ballroom, and tap, Deahr’s work features a fusion of multiple styles and has been hailed as “both artfully designed and visually seductive” by the Chicago Tribune.

Choreographing works that are artistic, technically challenging, and audience accessible, Jessica has quickly built an impressive resume, her credits including Inaside Chicago Dance, Chicago Dance Crash, Chicago Tap Theatre, Dance Chicago, Dances in the Parks, Jewel Kisses productions, and Goldberg Entertainment. Her piece, “At That Moment I Knew” was selected at the Inaside Choreographic Sponsorship Evening to be presented at the company’s spring concert “Revealed,” and was subsequently presented at “Dances in the Parks,” and ultimately Dance Chicago. Jessica made her evening length debut as a choreographer with Crash’s “Gotham City,” which premiered as part of the Department of Cultural Affair’s Storefront Theatre season. The show received resounding praise from audiences and critics alike, with Centerstage calling Jessica’s work as “an explosion of dance so dynamic you can see the “POW!” and “BAM!” jumping off the page," while ChicagoNow called her choreography an “amazing mingling of visceral and whimsical.” Laura Molzahn of the Chicago Reader remarked that “…a jaw-dropping cast of about 30 actualizes…Deahr's virtuosic mix of hip-hop, capoeira, acrobatic, and contemporary dance moves in this exercise in perpetual motion performed up close and personal in the round."

As a performer, Jessica has toured Europe, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and South Korea with Jean Ann Ryan Productions, Goldberg Entertainment and Royal Caribbean Productions as a dancer and aerial artist. In addition to Dance Crash, Jessica has also danced with Instruments of Movement under the direction of James Morrow, Inaside Chicago Dance under Richard Smith, Chicago Contemporary Latin, and Joel Hall Dancers, while also performing on USO tours. After traveling the world, Jessica currently calls Chicago home and continues to perform and teach while pursuing her career as a choreographer. For more info go to
