I know there's a band who used treadmills in a video, and they did a whole syncronized "dance bit" on a bunch of treadmills, but prior to hearing about that from a friend to whom I pitched my idea, I toyed with the idea of choreographing a routine that involved the use of moving treadmills to represent the fact that in life we are constantly trying to create beauty/order/meaning etc. in a space that is constantly shifting and changing. I am a sociologist who has a background in dance and who studies women runners - so it's fairly obvious where the idea came from.
